Why you should check out Karaoke at Anime Midwest.
Anime Midwest is the biggest and best anime convention held every summer in Chicago, and you can check it out in July. One of my favorite activites at the convention is Karaoke, among the many events the convention has ranging from epic concerts to great guests.
We have two Karaoke rooms, each with their own styles. One is more like what you would experience at any fun karaoke bar or place, and the other is more like karaoke you’d do with your friends at your house. Both are amazing and fun!
Karaoke is a fun and entertaining activity for many people for several reasons. Here are a few reasons why karaoke is great to do at the conventions.
- Practice Singing: Karaoke allows you to sing your favorite songs, even if they are not professional singers. This can be a great way to showcase your singing talent, or simply have fun trying to imitate the original singer.
- Karaoke provides a low-pressure stage for people to perform in front of others. This can be a great opportunity for someone to be the center of attention and showcase their singing abilities, without the fear of being judged harshly. Perhaps it can lead to doing more events, like your own panels or shows, in the future!
- Karaoke is a social activity, with people singing together in groups or with friends. This creates a fun and relaxed environment for people to bond and connect with each other. It’s one of the greatest ways to make friends at a convention.
- Singing karaoke allows you to express yourself through music. It gives you the opportunity to share their emotions and feelings through song.
- For many people, like me, singing karaoke brings back memories of childhood or earlier times in their lives. The songs they sing can transport them back to a specific time or place and evoke strong emotions. I often reminisce about high school when singing old songs like Allstar from Smash Mouth or Perfect by Simple Plan.
- Karaoke is its own chance to practice and improve their singing skills. By singing with the music and lyrics on the screen, you can work on pitch, rhythm, and overall vocal performance.
- Singing karaoke can be a confidence-boosting activity, especially for those who happen to be shy or self-conscious. By stepping up to the mic and singing in front of others, you can build your confidence and your self-esteem. It’s like going to the Toastmasters meetings, but not as boring.
- Karaoke can bring people together, regardless of age, background, or culture. People can bond over their love of music and singing, and form new friendships and relationships.
In conclusion, karaoke is a fun activity and a great way to spend some of your time at the convention between amazing musical acts and guest signings. I’ve been practicing in the bath and shower daily, just so I sound better!
